David,

I know you have concerns about the genealogy of the Hawkins County, Tennessee Reuben Mabe, but I take exception to your blanket comment that there is no documentation that supports the entire genealogy report of William Mabe's descendants that I have on my web site.

Since the book is over 557 web pages I am sure that you have not read the entire book or the comments spiced through out the book that explains some of the analysis and documentation that supports the genealogy choices that I or others have made.

That comment demeans the research of Mary Jo Loyd and Mary Kay Mabe of the Wythe County Mabes, and Virginia King and Georgia Thomas on the Stokes County Mabes, and Hilton Turner and many others that have sent in their research to include in the book.

Are there errors in the report? Sure. Over the years has the genealogy changed because of new information? Yes, and it will continue to change as more information becomes available.

David, you are right that the report, like all genealogy reports, is a collection of names. These names are tied to families through court records, wills, death and birth records, census records, family bibles, land deeds, marriage records, military pension applications, and as a last resort the analysis of the person doing the genealogy research. Because given names are in most instances not unigue sometimes it is difficult say to whom the records are referring.

Jim Mabe
