Christine,
I have a very long and strong Mabe family line. My Mabe family is Cherokee related, I have documentation. Yes, many families have the great, great, great grandmother was a cherokee story, some really were true, many however were not. i also am quite familiar with the melungeon. i have researched many of those families due to a possible connection on a different part of my family. i have not found any Melungeon connections on my Mabe families. If you would like to share information on the Mabes, please contact me.
