I have to warn you about the Cherokee connection. For most families it doesn't exist--and I can't say whether it does or not for your line. There are very few verified Indian connections in Northeastern Tennessee. The Sizemore family generally tests out as Indian on y-DNA tests. In general, the Cherokee Indians were hostile, and most were sent off to reservations or killed in the Cherokee War around 1837. The Mabe line does not appear to have a direct Cherokee background--e.g., those males and females descended from Reuben Mabe and Sarah Cherry. If there was, it would come from the spouses of their children and grandchildren.

There were lots of Melungeon (not pure white--whatever that means) connections in Hawkins and Hancock counties though, but the jury is still out on who they were. David Mabe was the son of Hezekiah Mabe. I don't know offhand who David and Hezekiah Mabe married. Hezehiah's father William, son of Reuben and Sarah Cherry Mabe, married Susan Fletcher who was descended from John P. Fletcher and Catherine Curry. There are some interesting interconnections through the Fletchers, but as far as I know the Fletchers were not Melungeon. If you can figure out who Hezekiah and David married it might be a break for you. There is probably somebody who knows for sure.
