This is the previous message reformatted to make it more legible:

The family of Ernst MAAG

My grandfather Ernst MAAG was born in Aarau, Switzerland in 1866. He emigrated to America from Zurich in 1888. He first settled in St. Louis, MO and soon moved to Quincy, IL. where he was a flower grower and florist.

Ernst married Mary HOLTON in Quincy in 1900. In 1906 they moved to southern California where they lived briefly in Alhambra, then in Pomona until 1911 when they finally settled in Monrovia, CA.

Ernst and Mary produced 5 sons. Only 3 survived to marry and have children. My father, Theodore (Ted) MAAG, was the youngest son of Ernst MAAG and the only one to produce sons to carry on the MAAG surname.

Ernst had an older sister Anna Marie MAAG, and a younger brother Edward MAAG who also came to America. Anna Marie married the Rev. Paul EBINGER. They had children and lived in Tillamook, OR. Edward lived in Los Angeles and was also married, but had no children.

I present below a descendency chart showing Ernst MAAG's ancestors in Switzerland. The Swiss ancestral information was provided by "Genealogisches Institut Zwicky", Zurich.

Info on the first generation from the Bülach church records:

Marx Maag and Barbara Meyer married on 23 Jan 1603. They have three entries in the Bülach church records: Antoni, born 6 May 1604; Cunradt, born 12 Jan 1606; and an entry without a child's name on 1 May 1608.

The LDS FHC has films available (0996975 to 0996978) of the Russikon church records of births from 1606 to 1875, and marriages and deaths from 1630 to 1875. Also, the Population Registers of the Zürich Synod (42 films in the with numbers 11851xx) have lists of parishioners (in effect parish censuses) for Russikon for 1634, 1637, 1640, 1644, 1646, 1657, 1671, 1682, 1689, 1695, and 1710.

Cheers,
Mike Moak
