Moses Leary was my great great grandfather.
Moses Leary is listed in the 1890 East Mahanoy Twp Census as being 60 years old and a stable boss
He is listed in the History of Mahanoy Township Schuylkill County PA as Mosey Leary in a portion that reads:
"EARLY SETTLERS:
The populations of Ellangowen in the early '60's was composed for the most part of English, Irish, Welsh, and a few Germans. The Slavs, Lithuanians, Poles, and others came into this region about 1878.
Samuel Everett was the first settler in this section. He lived on a well cultivated farm in a log house, and had a slaughter house here. Some of the other settlers here were Mosey Leary, the first stable boss,..., Bob Yarnell,
Mike Riley, and Nicholas Family."
James was Moses's son and my great grandfather. In the 1890 East Mahanoy Twp Census James is listed being 21 years old and a laborer.
In the 1900 Federal Census, East Mahanoy Township, (St. Nicholas Village)District 7, Schuylkill County, PA James Leary is listed in entry 153 as 30 years old, a laborer (coal) and head of the household with wife Lizzie (Yarnell) and sons James age 9, John age 7, Thomas age 5, Raymond age 2, and Roy age 10 months.
Between the 1900 Census and the 1910 Census James died (Based on family oral history in a mining accident -- date probably 1901 or 1902).

Lizzie has remarried to a Jack Hampton a coal miner
and they have a daughter Mamie age 8,
Lizzie's sons:
James age 19 is listed as a Coal Mine Engineer
John age 16 is listed as a Colliery Laborer
Thomas age 15 is listed as a Colliery Laborer
Raymond age 12
Roy age 10
James Lizzie's son was my grandfather and lived his life in Mahanoy City.
Based on oral family history Moses came to the USA from Ireland with his father Garrett.
