Interesting question- not sure but have two possibilities:

1. If you do a search on Labadie you will get some hits in Haiti. Could have some early immigration from there?

2. Gr-Grandpa Antoine (1732-1807) had a large farm in Windsor Canada where the Hiram-Walker Distillery is now located. He had slaves on the farm both black and American indian. Common practice was for slaves on southern plantations to take the name of the master. Very possibly these families originated from that situation.
