Searching for Kirwans of NY and County Louth

I am searching for information on my late husband's family.
He was Patrick Thomas Kirwan, born November 1931, orginally of White Plains, NY.
His father was Patrick Kirwan of County Louth, Ireland.
He emigrated to America in mid to late 1920's. Married Mary (Molly) Whalen. He was killed during WWII by German sub attack on British Merchant Marine. I am researching the family as a way of working through my grief. I would appreciate any info. Thank you.
