I was in Ross Errilly Abbey yesterday and saw a large Kirwan vault in the ruined church. The dates on the vault were in the 1700s, and early 1800s. I did not have the time to collect information, and the rain was pelting down.
Ross Errilly was a Franciscan foundation and dates from the Middle Ages and was not finally abandoned until the mid-1700s. It is a few miles outside Headford, County Galway, which is a town north of Galway City, and the Headford Road connects with other major roads in Galway City on the Kirwan Roundabout. Other "Tribes of Galway" have their names on other traffic roundabouts in Galway City.
