The family records that I am verifying for the Kemmett family in Janesville, Wisconsin, have a Mary and Catherine. I have marriage records for both of them. Mary's birthdate appears to be approximately 1831 (Ship Excelsior 1851) and not 1822 so they may not be the same family. Catherine (Kitty) is listed in the 1860 Census for Janesville (2nd ward) and I will check her stated age. Mary Kemmett married Walter Mooney on September 23, 1856 in Janesville and later moved to the Chicago area. Catherine, who I believe was called Kitty, married Patrick Menahan on November 12, 1865 in Janesville. Another possible family member who I am researching was a Richard Kimmitt who file for first papers in Rock County (Janesville) on September 11, 1856.
The only record I have for the family's father name comes from James Kemmett's death record at Feb. 2, 1909 and states that his father's name was Michael. The Kemmett family in Janesville has parents Michael (?) and Eleanor (1800) with children including Mary (1831), Catharine, Ellen (1825), Michael (1833), John Roger (1836), James (1839), Thomas (1830) , Elizabeth (1829) and possibly Richard (?).
