The National Archives of Ireland indicates that convicts from Ireland were transported to Australia from 1791 to 1853. In 1837 Michael Kearley, age 28 was arrested and found guilty of grevious assault. His sentence was transportation to Australia for 7 years. He was detained at Kilmainham Gaol, Co. Dublin until being transported to Australia. The document referenced is TR 2 page 95.
