Included in information that was distributed to my Matthews family back in the 1960's under the heading of "Children of Matt and Ella Matthews" is the following:
"Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Matthews, born December 15, 1878, died about age 74; married Perry Jacoway; parents of one daughter and 7 sons: Vivian, Alton, Ira, Earl, Gordon, Sam, Phillip, Paul Bernard, and one son died at birth. Paul Bernard was killed in World War II on D-Day. Lizzie married a second and third time; no children."
Lizzie Matthews' father was Jeremiah Arthur Madison "Matt" Matthews and her mother was Ella Newson Jones. One of Lizzie's brothers, James Oscar Matthews, was my grandfather. You will find information on this Matthews line as well as a little more info on Lizzie at <www.samatthews.com>. (She is listed as Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Matthews in the site's name index.)
