I have recently discovered that I have ancestors, Jens Christian Jacobsen and Louisa Martha Olsen Jacobsen, that came from Norway to work on the plantations in Kauai. I know that they came from present day Oslo and that they were married and that they passed through San Francisco before they reached the Hawaiian Islands. But who they were and what they did before they came to Hawaii is still a mystery to me. They arrived in Koloa, Kauai in the mid-1800s and remained in the islands for the rest of their lives.
