I am interested in any information regarding Meshack Jacobs. He was my grandmothers grandfather. He was born in 1828, supposedly in Alabama and went to Rusk, Texas as a small boy. I have an interesting story my grandmother told about him coming to Texas driving his own wagon (about age 8). Grandmother said his step-mother "stole" him and she and his step-brother, who was older, died on the way. He connected up with the wagon train in Georgia. Don't know who raised him. She said that he used to talk about his father and called him "Billy". I wondered if the William Jacobs family in RusK raised him. They could have been a distant relative. If any of this sounds familiar please contact me. (Or not)
