hi

i have an involved interest in the irby family re my harris and hudson families in this lunenburg/ halifax cos, va area on into laurens co, sc.

this was my william harris/ judith hudson, who, along with richard brown, witnessed this 1745 brunswick co, va deed re william irby to andrew wade.

Indenture made 3 December 1745 between William Irby of
Brunswick County and Andrew Wade of Goochland County, £60, 500a, 250a of the said Land being granted to William Gent by Patent lying on North side of Dan River on both sides of the Horsford Creek; other 242a being granted to Peter Mitchell by Patent. Signed William Irby. Witnesses: Wm.Harris, Richard Brown. Court March 6, 1745, Indenture acknowledged by William Irby.
Brunswick Co, Va Deed Book 3, Page 162.

this was also my peter hudson, sr, father of my judith hudson harris, or his son, peter hudson, jr, involved with william irby there in lunenburg/ halifax co, va re the estate of this adlar david.

lunenburg co, va court orders book 1, page 196, william irby; peter hudson; luke smith; edward parker appraise the estate and slaves of adlar david, 1749.

then, this was also a william irby who witnessed this laurens co, sc deed re my charles harris, son of my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers, who was the son of my william harris, sr/ frances goode, son of my william harris/ judith hudson of lunenburg/ mecklenburg co, va.

laurens co, sc deed book J, page 64, 1809, john clark, sheriff, to
james holley and charles harris for $53, 150 acres former property of
silvanus walker on raborn creek bordered on jonathan downs; lydall
allen; robert creswell, sold by writ of fi fa at suit of exix and exor
of thomas burton, deceased. witnesses: william irby; john mc harg; john
garlington, c.c

as indicated, this land my charles harris owned there in laurens co, sc had involved previously a suit with the estate of thomas burton.

thomas burton was the son of james burton, sr/ judith also of lunenburg co, va whose daughter agnes burton married james hudson, sr, 1/2 brother of my judith hudson harris, again, children of my peter hudson, sr.

i am recently corresponding with someone who descends from our related james hudson, sr/ judith burton and per the info she has sent me, a joshua irby was also paid by the estate of james hudson, sr ca 1765 in charlotte co, va.

so far, i can find no other info on this joshua irby, but speaking of the roberts family, and i do not know if this were the same roberts family or not, but another person paid by the estate of our james hudson, sr was this william rawlins and, per the info, william rawlins' wife was the daughter of this alexander roberts of mecklenburg co, va.

also, per the info, the irby family, my hudson family, and my harris family all trace back to henrico co, va which is i think probably where these family connections started.

i have corresponded with others in the past and tried to learn more about the irby family but cannot seem to find someone who can put this all together and show me how this all fits together as i think it does and how it does relate to my harris and hudson family.

one other thing i always check, who someone else may be interested in, and i also note your interest in the rochester family of union co, sc.

this was my great-great grandfather james harris who died in 1872 in paulding co, ga and his wife, my anne cooper harris, daughter of jesse and rebecca darby cooper, who were from union co, sc.

this was also my jesse cooper/ rebecca darby's son, william darby cooper, who became a mormon, moved to utah, and who married sisters lydia and hannah rochester, daughters of asbury rochester/ sarah lee also of union co, sc.

this would seem to be the same rochester family you are also probably interested in.

i have not, however, focused on the rochesters but just noted we have this additional interest and cross-connection.

i would be glad to hear from you and others re their interest also in the irby family in this halifax/ lunenburg co, va area and on into laurens co, sc and especially, as i say, in how this relates to my interest in my harris and hudson families.

thanks.
