William Womack died in 1790 in Charlotte Co, VA with a wife but no kids. His estate fell to his 9 siblings, one of whom was Martha (Womack) Roberts/Robards. Various sources have her husband as John Roberts or Step Roberts; she did have a son named Step Roberts. Anyhow, Martha (Womack) Roberts was dead, so her share fell to her kids, one of whom was Frances (Roberts) Irby.
I just ordered some of the William Womack estate records. In them, I found a letter saying that Frances (Roberts) Irby's husband (who is not named in the letter) was killed by the Torries in the Rev War in Laurens Dist, SC, and that Frances (Roberts) Irby was the mother of at least two kids, William Irby & Moses Irby.
This seems to match with the story about Joseph Irby in Laurens Dist, SC.
