Malcolm, I carry out accurate, inexpensive research at New Register House in Edinburgh. This building holds copies of all birth, marriage & death certificates in Scotland from 1855 until the present day. It also holds all census returns from 1841 - 1901, as well as pre-1855 parish records of births and marriages. Using these sources and the information you have given on Genforum, I would be confident of compiling a large family history on your Inglis family, including taking your family line back to the late 1700's/early 1800's. This would include providing transcripts of all certificates & census entries found. I am also able to trace descendants of those who remained in Scotland, and I am normally able to obtain a current address for any descendants found. If you are interested and would like further details, please contact me by return e-mail. dgsw07438@sky.com I am able to provide references of my work from customers in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand as well as here in Scotland.
