Horsley Family Genealogy Forum

My Golly, where have I gone. I have ceased my family search in search of a missing connection. William Horsley (b. about 1765 Va. ) moved to KY and James Horsley (B. about 1865 Va.) moved to KY. Now how are these two related - brother, cousin, or nothing? On William I find he is in Greenup Co., Ky in 1820 then dissapears (I believe he may have went to Adams Co. Ohio) in 1830. But returns to Greenup Co. KY in 1840 right before his death. James is in Greenup Co. Ky from 1800 to death in mid 1800's. His obit says he is the son of John Horsley. Now here is the where the problem starts. My Granddad says that my family came to America's and moved to Culpepper Co. Va until they moved to KY. But I can find nothing but James signed up for the Revolution in Culpepper Co. Va. So when I look into records I find a John, William, and Robert were brother in Nelson Co. KY who were born in late 1840's. Could this John be James father? Is William the Cousin to James who follow a friend (cousin) to Greenup Co. Ky? Why can I not find any record of there connection in VA? Or was the John I seek poor and left off Tax and Land records? My grandfather talked of my ancestors as the John who live in Nelson Co. VA, the first Horsley in our family to come to America were wealthy doctors and such until they moved to KY. If anyone in Culpepper co. or Knows of this family Please let me know I can't stand trying to find the right path any longer.
Thanks,
Ken Horsley
