Petition of Moses Allen, Savil Hardin & Isaac Hardin by their atty., ordered that ...Kelly, Jos. Taylor & Jno. H. Coleman be appointed commissioners under the act of assembly of the conveyance & division of lands, & that they convey to sd. Allen 100 ac or land situate & lying & being in Harrison Co., on the waters of Stratton Run by deed agreeable to a bond given by Wm. C. Perrin in his lifetime to sd. Allen dated 7th of Nov. 1811.
Sd. bond being proved in court by the oath of Savil & Isaac Harding, the subscribing witnesses thereto & proof of the consideration. Money having been paid to the satisfation of the court & it is ordered that sd. bond be recorded with the deed & that they also convey to sd. Savil Hardin 50 ac of land situate, lying & being in Harrison Co., on Stratton run by deed agreeable to a bond given by sd. Wm. C. Perrin, in his lifetime, to sd. Hardin, dated 21 June 1807, sd. bond being proved in court by the oath of Jos. Perrin, the subscribing witness thereto, & satisfactory proof being made to this court that the cosideration money was paid, & it is ordered tht sd. bond be recorded with the deed so to be made & that they also convey to Isaac Hardin 50 ac of land situate, lying & being in Harrison Co., on Stratton run, by deed agreeably to a bond given by Wm. In 1826, Saville Hardin Sr (his father is dead now so he takes the name Sr.) gives to Savil Hardin, Jr. (b. 1805), a two year old gray horse colt.
"In considn of services rendered me by Savil Hardin Jr from April 1818 to Apr 1819 and since, in supporting and protecting his mother and other children whilst I was confined in Frankfort, and for further considn of $1.00 pd. and the love and affection which I bear to my son Savil Hardin Jr; sold &C two beds & their furniture; 1 2-yr old gray horse colt, 1 dark-brown mare colt 1 yr old; 1 last spring colt, its color bay (mare colt) 1 yoke of oxen & cart; 60 hogs large & small; 1 cupboard & cupboard furniture; 1 burreau, 2 cows & calves; 2 ploughs & 2 pr gears; 1 lock chain & 3 hoes; 8 bee hives; 2 barels of whiskey; 2 barel vinegar & 20 geese.

E.E.Barton Letters state:
William Hardin's father (Savil) settled Snake Lick, Harrison Co., KY 4 miles s. of the Licking on land later belonging to Bakett heirs. Savil's father was from England and fought the indians. An indian wanted to meet with him but he wouldn't trust him so he shot him.
David Duncan Harden came to KY through VA and was an indian fighter, so the story above "fits". Or, is it possible that David Duncan Harden was the brother of Savil Harden (1740-1826)?
The 16 June 1858 marriage record of William D. Harden marrying Elizabeth Jane Doan says he was 70, this was his 2nd marriage that he was born in Henry Co., KY and his father was born in MD his mother was born in VA.
Note: Savel was said to have had two sons, Savil & William "Billie Bluebuck". Why was William not an heir to the land as Savel, Nancy and Alveda were?

S.D Harden lived in Har. Co. in 1871, abt 3 yrs before he lived in Pend. Co. for 40 yrs. in neighborhood of Edward Wallace Sr. (the Lewis C. King farm - later Ewings).
S.D. bought the land of Edward Wallace Sr. on Blanket Crk. just before the latter pur. in 1845, from Richard King. See John Wallace v. Thos. Wallace, P Cir C Pkg. 248.
"Safe" bur. on old Harden farm on his own farm. His 2d wife bur. by him.
David Duncan Harden was here when Indians here. Think he came to KY from VA.
Safe b. in Har. or Pend.
David D's farm on Snake Lick. He took patent for 1000 acres, but land taken under another claim all but homestead. He lived bet Berry Sta & Jim Lays on hill above Jim Lays.

Obituary: Log Cabin Newpaper, April 21, 1899
George W. Hardin died of heart disease at the home of his son, Robert at Robinson, at age 73. Born in this county in 10/10/1826 he was the son of William D. Hardin oldest and last to die of a family of 13 children. Twelve of whom died on the 9th day of the month. Union soldier in the Civil and Mexican War. Member of the Methodist Church and was married four times. Five surviving children, Captain W. S. Hardin of this city, Mrs. Mary Jones of Pendleton County, and Mrs. Susan Moore of Louisville, and R.L. and A.L. Hardin of this county. Buried in Dorn Cemetery Wednesday.

Harvey Newton Hardin, my Great Grandfather, moved from Pendleton Co., KY to Harrison Co., KY when about five or six and spent most of his life there. In 1861, he enlisted in the Union Army under Capt. Givens, of Cynthiana, to serve three years or during the war. He received an Honorable discharge, 10/25/1864, at Nashville, TN after serving three years in Co., K, of 4th KY Mounted Infantry. While a soldier, he joined the Baptist Church in which he remained until 1886, when Rev. J.W. Walker held a meeting in this section and he then joined the M.E. Church, South at Benson. On 12/15/1918, at 11:30 p.m. he passed over the river.
Clerinda Green, Harvey Newton's first wife, was born 4/13/1845 in Harrison Co., KY to Fielding Benjamin Green, a wagonmaker, and Mary Doan, both of VA. Fielding's father, James Green, mentions in his 1788 will in Loudon Co., VA "....to my son in law Elihu Harding and his children by my daughter Ann I also cut off with one shilling...."

My G-G-Grandfather is Harvey Newton Hardin, born somewhere in KY, 6 Jan 1805 and married Clarinda Green. His father is listed as Saviel D. Hardin (b. 1768) and his father is listed simply as Saviel Hardin. I think they are both from KY.
I am interested in three areas:
1. Anything about Harvey Newton Hardin: I saw an obituary that referenced civil war service in a KY cavalry unit and some sort of ministerial affiliation. What are his stats-- birth location, death location, military service, details on marriage, ecclesiastical information, etc.
2. The Green conenction. Where did Clarinda come from?
3. The Saviel's story. Everything sems to stop at Saviel, the Father of Saviel D. who married Nancy Lay/Lea, the parents of Harvey. Are these guys of the French, English, or Scot line?

Mr. John G. Hardin well known Farmer residing near Berry, died Wed.
afternoon, Oct. 20, 1926 shortly after a four weeks illness. Mr. Hardin was
born in this county on Oct. 27, 1845, and was the son of the late S. D. and
Nancy Hardin. In Jan. 1866 he married Miss Lucretia Ruth Doan who died eleven
years ago. Mr. Hardin is survived by the following children; namely, Mr.
Henry B. Hardin, Covington, Mr. John N. Hardin, Berry RD 1, Mr. Jesse L.
Hardin, North Bend, Ohio, and Mr. L. T. Hardin, Paris, Kentucky.
Mr. Hardin united with the Fairview Baptist Church forty two years ago. The
funeral services, conducted by Rev. S. H. Burgess, will be held this morning,
Oct. 22, at 10:20 o’clock at the Berry Baptist Church. Burial will take place
at Pythian Grove Cemetery. The pallbearers will beMessrs, Will Mattox, E. N.

Frankfort, Kentucky.
He was discharged July 18, 1865 in Edgefield, Tennessee. (3)

Obituary , The Log Cabin, October 22, 1926, Cynthiana, Ky.
Mr. John G. Hardin, well known farmer residing near Berry, died October 20,
1926. He was born in Harrison County on September 27, 1845, the son of the
late S. D. and Nancy Hardin. In January, 1866 he married Lucretia Ruth Doan,
who died eleven years ago. Surviving children are; Mr. Henry B. Hardin, of
Covington,; John N. Hardin, of Berry; Jesse L. Hardin of North Bend, Ohio,
and L. T. Hardin of Paris. He was also survived by one siste; Mrs. J. B.
Doan, of Berry. Buried in Buried in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry, Kentucky.

Isaac Newton Hardin's father was by my records, named David Duncan Hardin. Isaac had a brother named Savil Duncan Hardin Sr. I am a descendant through Savil Sr.then Savil Jr, his son George A. Hardin,( June 1829 )then George Richard ( 1864 ), then My Grandfather William Andrew Harden ,My Father was William Harry Harden, and me being William Harry Harden Jr.

Notes for NORMAN A. HARDEN:
Per Norman Harden, Savil Hardin (1768-1832) is the son of David Duncan Harden. According to the E.E. Barton Letters, David Duncan Harden came to KY from VA when there were still indians in the area.
Since Isaac Harden (1767-1848) of Somerset Co., PA is said to be the son of David Harden (b. ca 1742) it seems natural to assume he and Savil Hardin (1768-1832) are brothers.
I strongly believe the Hardens of PA and the Hardins of KY are related but probably a generation or two further back. Thomas Milton Tinney seems to have come to the same conclusion.
