I am a Gazzard from parents in N. London ( Hoxton ). My father, Edward ( "Ted") was evacuated during WWII to the Midlands. I heard him say that the only other Gazzard in his school was French. I have heard many accounts of where the name came from, including an evolution from "Gassert" meaning "one who lives in an alley ( "Gasse" in French )
Peter James Gazzard, New Jersey USA ( since 1983 )
