Hi Candace. Thanks for your reply. My Grandmother was a special lady--way ahead of her time. She was a savvy businesswoman and managed to build quite a business in Chicago which was in the Family until last year. I draw a lot of strength from her memory.
How interesting to find there were only two branches of D'Andrea Families. I'd love to hear more about that. So, I guess we are related through marriage. My Grandfather Alberico (b 1899) was the only Son but had two Sisters. It would definitely be something if your Adaline wrote to the same Sisters my Grandmother wrote to. Maybe your In-law's Felice was my Grandfather's cousin as the dates of birth are only a year apart.
I don't know anything about my Great Grandfather, other than his name, Amato. Unfortunately, the older generations did not want to talk about their heritage for fear of being criticized. Such a shame. I am so very proud of my heritage.
Just a side note, the people who checked my Grandfather in at Ellis Island recorded his first name as Albert. My Grandmother's Father came in through Boston and they recorded his surname as Dintino when it was D'Intino. I think name changing happened a lot.
