Hi Mollymae4: You make us guess too much. Since their oldest child was 8 in 1860, this makes the DOB 1852. Hence, a marriage date of 1851 +/- 1 yr seems reasonable. I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,800,000 surviving rcds for abt 70% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Cos. Donegal and Derry were recently added to the database. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 30%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). Now, assuming they married in Ireland: For Cat(herine) Donohue M 1851 +/- 1 yr, somewhere in Ireland with the father's forename unknown, I found 8 rcds: 2-1850 Cork, 1851 Tipperary, 1851 Limerick, 2-1852 Tipperary, 1852 Cork, and 1852 Galway. For Pat(rick) Curley M ditto, I found 6 rcds: 1850 Roscommon, 1850 Westmeath, 1851 Galway, 1852 Sligo, 1852 Galway, and 1852 Westmeath. Only the 1852 Galway is a potential match. However, there aren't matching M rcds at the parish level. Therefore, they likely married in America. Suggest you contact the parishes/diocese for where they lived as shown in the 1860 census for its parish registers. Note - the parish registers, if they have survived, SHOULD show their parents' names. For Cat(herine) Donohue B 1830 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland with the father's forename unknown, I found 69 rcds - waaay to many to summarize here. For Pat(rick) Curley B 1828 ditto, I found 11 rcds: 1826 Westmeath, 2-1826 Roscommon, 1828 Roscommon, 1829 Galway, 2-1830 Galway, 1832 Roscommon, 1833 Galway, 1833 Roscommon, and 1833 Mayo. This exhausts my abilities. You will need to find exact DOB, DOM, parent(s) name(s), and/or placename(s) to pick which, if any, rcds are for these ancestors. Caution - there is a 30% chance that even if their rcds survived, they aren't in the database. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Good luck. Notify Administrator about this message?
