Hi All, I'm hunting for that mysterious connection between JOHN & KITTY WEEMS and JOHN & ANN BLACKWOOD of Greene Co., TN. I found information that ANN WEEMS was the wife of my JOHN BLACKWOOD, but there is no documentation, but this would explain why JOHH WEEMS was made guardian for the minor children of JOHN & ANN BLACKWOOD. So I began researching and locate some interesting information: "...THOMAS CROMPTON d 17 Jan 1744-45, Calvert Co.; inventory of WILLIAM SKINNER 18 Apr 1745 shows one of the creditors as MARY CROMPTON (I&A 30.42); she was also a creditor in the estate of THOMAS CULLIMBER in Calvert Co. 30 Sep 1745 (I&A 31.348); children's dates from Christ Church, Calvert Co.: 47-5 MARY CROMPTON, b. 10 Jan 1740/1 47-6 CATHERINE CROMPTON, b 7 May 1742 47-7 ANN CROMPTON, b b/f 1744; d. ca 1781; m. ca 1781 JOHN WEEMS 47-8 THOMAS CROMPTON, b. ca 1744/5; d b/f 1775; m. ANN BOND Maj. THOMAS CROMPTON,Calvert Co.; inventory 5399.12.0 pounds; 5 Feb 1744; 27 May 1745; admnx. MARY CROMPTON (I&A 31.19)" Source: Family History: Colonial Families of Maryland 1600s-1900s Early Families of Southern Maryland, Vol. 5, Corrections and Additions, pg 317 /copy/MyFamily.com, Inc. Also located: "THOMAS CROMPTON Dec 2 1749... mentions, Administrators: JAMES WEEMS and his wife, MARY WEEMS" Source: Maryland Probate Records, 1674-1774 Prerogative Court Abstracts, 1744-1750, Abstracts 1744-1750 (Libers 21-28) pg 141 /copy/ MyFamily.com, Inc. Could KITTY WEEMS be a CROMPTON? Could ANN BLACKWOOD be a WEEMS/CROMPTON? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
