Hi Joyce,
On the death certificate, Mary Crist was that wife's maiden name. She was actually Cassie's mother. This also explains how Grandpa Thurman came to meet her, because George Bowers married her mother a few years before they married. I know this may come as a shock to many, considering that all these years no one has known very much about Cassie, but she had a very strong connection to the family via her Mom's marriage to George Bowers. You will find the marriage in the index under her married name.
