It looks like George N. Crist/Criss may have been the son of Samuel Crist and Hannah. In the 1880 Census George lived in Owen Co., Marion Twp and so did Samuel. In 1860 Census Samuel is in Owen Co., Lafayett Twp and has a son by name of George N. 22. In 1870 George named his youngest daughter Lanora Hannah (or Hanna Lanora).

More effort would be required to know this link is solid.

Additional notes:
Samuel can be found in Ohio, Tuscaraws Co, Fairfield Twp in the 1850 Census.

In the 1880 Census Samuel lists himself as born in Penn, father born in Penn, and mother born in Ireland.
