I looked around a bit and found a few interesting census records and one newspaper clipping from Marion, OH. I also found the 1880 census record but it list's George's parents as from Penn and Ohio no Virginia. It also looks like in 1850-1860 Matilda's last name is listed as "Shaffer". There are some good candidates for a George Crist b. in ohio with Parents from Penn and Ohio.
