Richard A. "Dick" Crist
RICHARD A. (DICK) CRIST Died Saturday, November 13, 2004 in Tracy, CA, at the age of 74. Born in Pueblo, CO on September 6, 1930, to John and Rosalie Crist. Dick loved music and was a gifted musician, playing the piano, tuba, trumpet, drums and string bass. At the age of 17, Dick was employed with the Pueblo City band and a member of Denver Symphony. In 1951 he joined the Air Force and was a member of the 549th Air Force Band Squadron for over two and half years. After leaving active duty in October 1953, Dick continued as a musician playing in bands for Mel Torme, Johnny Mathis and Nat King Cole. Music continued to be a major part of Dick's life and in 2002, he and several fellow Rotarians formed a dance band. Dick had an obsession for golf and was an avid golfer throughout his life. Beloved husband of his late wife, Cloe Crist and loving father and grandpa. Dick is survived by his son, William W. (Bill) Crist; daughters, Corri Phillips and Heidi Bressler; son-in-law, Jim Bressler and grandchildren, Billy Zinn, Carly Bressler and Dori Bressler. A well know businessman in Fremont for over 30 years after starting Crist Oil Company in Niles in 1973, Dick moved his family to Fremont in 1980. Dick had a passion for helping others and was a very active member of Niles Rotary until his passing. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and Past Rotary President. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, November 20, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church, 4760 Thornton Ave., Fremont.
