Norma Jean Britton, 73, of Brittontown Road, Afton, Greene Co TN, died early Saturday morning, June 20, 2009, at Signature HealthCare Center of Greeneville, Greene Co TN. She was retired from Philips Consumer Electronics Co. after 42 years of service. Mrs. Britton was a member of Brittontown Church. She was a faithful, loving, and caring mother who was loved by all, her family stated. She was the widow of Lawrence 'Buddy' Britton, her husband of 45 years who died July 3, 1998. Born November 11, 1935, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Lucy Mae Craddock Farris; and was preceded in death by three sisters, Iuna Reynolds, Anna Marie Lamb, and Mary Ruth Rutherford; and three brothers, Arie Farris, Billy Joe Farris, and Marvin 'Tooter' Farris. Survivors include one son, Wayne Britton of Greeneville, TN; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Jareco Johnson of Greeneville, TN; six grandchildren, Miranda Church, Nathan Church, Beth Cobble, Blaire Cobble, Jeremy Dunbar, and Jamie Dunbar; four great-grandchildren, Leighann Hayes, Bryanna Blow, Todd Morris, and Payton Fugate; and several very special nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2009, at Doughty- Stevens Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. David Dugger and the Rev. Billy Moore will officiate. Pallbearers will be Hobert Reynolds, Raymond Reynolds, Dennis Booker, Bobby Rutherford, Kenneth Britton, and Russell Britton. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Signature HealthCARE and Caris Hospice, especially Carolyn. Interment will follow in Cross Anchor Cemetery.
