I have heard a similar story from a couple of the "older" Craddock relatives. There are a couple of variations - two brothers came to the US; one paid passage; one stowed away - 1 Craddock came to the US from London through NY at age 9; none of his brothers and sisters came with him. I haven't been able to find anything substantial on my great-great grandfather, William Thomas Craddock. According to census records, he was born in 1844 in England and immigrated when he was about 3 years old. The only other significant thing is that he was supposedly descended from Sir Stanley Craddock and there was mention of a shoe factory. I haven't been able to find him yet on any census records prior to 1860 when he appears in the Pendleton County, KY census.
