Hi Mary,

I saw your latest posting on Genforum today and have responded to your invitation to sign the petition.

I was wondering if in your research you had come across a Mary Considine born about 1808. According to her Death Certificate (which I know may not be reliable) she was born at Derr Island, Clare and was the daughter of William Considine and Mary Kelly. She married Thomas Purcell in 1830 in Ennis and they and their children migrated to Australia on board the Earl Russell in 1864. They settled in Brisbane and Gympie.

I would appreciate any help you may be able to give me and am happy to share what I know happened to the Purcell family in Australia if you are interested. Do you know if there is such a place as Derr Island? I haven't been able to find it and wonder if was written down as the phonetic spelling of an Irish accent.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Bernadette Mahony
