Richard Rice CONSIDINE 1826-1897

Richard Rice CONSIDINE b.1826, d.7th Feb 1897, in Auckland New Zealand was my g-g-grandfather. I would be pleased to correspond with anyone who knows about him or his antecedants. Family lore has it that he was of the gentry class, and from Dirk, Paris Green (which almost certainly is Derk, Pallas Grean). He was a house decorator in Ireland before emigrating to New Zealand with his wife Norah McGrath (of Knockainy, Co. Limerick) and children Margaret, Mary, Florence, Alice, Thomas and John. There does not appear to be any obvious connection with the Considines of Derk, Pallas Grean who are listed in Burke's Landed Gentry of Ireland (1958), except for the place name. Family lore also has it that he received his middlename Rice, from the same family as that of Edmund Ignatius Rice, the founder of the Christian Brothers, but so far I have not found any information to substantiate that. I am also aware of the problems of using "family lore". If any one can help i'd be pleased to exchange information.
Cheers, Tim O'Sullivan (osullivanpeoples@hotmail.com)
