Daniel Colvin (deceased), was born in Claredon, VT, Oct. 24th, 1802, and came with his parents, Jonathan & Freelove (Bailey) Colvin, to Chesterfield in 1803. They settled on lot No.5, and in Feb. 1813, received two grants or deeds for the state; they amounted to 408 acres. Daniel Colvin occupied it until his death, which occurred Aug. 16th, 1876. Mr. Colvin was married to Betsey Brown, a daughter of Jonathan & Amy (Mattison) Brown. Children, ten: Harriet O. (now Mrs. B.J. Jacobs), Ruth A. of chesterfield, Jonathan B. of Wheaton,IL, Amy L. (widow of Daniel H. Jacobs, of Keeseville), Geroge of Wheaton, IL, Charles, living on the old homestead, Henrietta B. (now Mrs. Harmon Woodworth)of Ill., Albert (deceased), Francis J. of Chesterfield, and Harvey E., Colvin, M.D. of Burlington,Vt.
