Terry, my maternal grandfather was called Wilfred Albert Collings (1905-2006) and was born in Halton Quay, Cornwall which is not far from Looe. His father was Alfred Collings (1857-1945). It is most likely that there is a connection, but my information is sketchy as he never spoke much about his family and I haven't researched that side of my family either.
