I am seeking information and clarification regarding the family of Stephen Clement who died ca. 1831 in Bibb Co., AL per his estate papers. He was the son of Zephaniah Clement who died ca. 1822 in Bibb Co., AL.
Stephen was married to Leannah Jones, daughter of Thomas and Mercy Minter Jones of Edgefield Co., SC. Stephen and wife eventually moved to Bibb Co., AL where he apparently died.
Information posted by other researchers suggest that Stephen's widow, Leannah, moved to Hinds Co., MS and died in Copiah Co., MS ca. 1867. Among their children were Garrison, William, Washington and others.
However, another widow by the name of Leana/Leah Clements died ca. 1851 in Bibb Co., AL. Her former spouse's name is not given in her estate papers, but the names of her children are given as follows in April 1853:
1. Thomas Clements, full age, non-resident of state
2. William Clements, full age, non-resident of state
3. Emily Clements, full age
4. Amanda Watkins, wife of John Watkins, of full age
5. Narcissa Terry, wife of Samuel C. Terry, of full age
6. Sarah Defer, wife of Samuel Defer, of full age, non-resident of state
7. Nancy Ann Palmer/Parmer; Henry F. Palmer/Parmer; & Mary Jane Palmer/Parmer, minor heirs of Elizabeth Ann Palmer/Parmer, dec'd. (formerly Elizabeth Ann Clements). Non-residents of state and children of William Palmer/Parmer. [Note: William Palmer/Parmer was administrator of Leana/Leah's estate.]
Narcissa Clements [above] married Samuel Curtis Terry, son of James Terry and Susannah Clements. Susannah was the sister of Stephen Clements who died ca. 1831 in Bibb Co. That said, Narcissa and Samuel may have been cousins.
If the widow of Stephen Clements died 1867 in Copiah Co., MS, then who is the widow Leana/Leah Clements who died ca. 1851 in Bibb Co.? Who was her spouse?
