Anne Hyde Choate

Here is some interesting information. I am a Girl Scout Troop Leader within the Nations Capital. I went to the library to do some research on Girl Scouts for the upcoming Girl Scout Birthday and came across a book with this information and picture:

a) Picture of Anne Hyde Choate.

b) Anne Hyde Choate. Second President of the Girl Scouts. Original member of the World Committee of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. One of the founders of the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund, she was instrumental in establishing the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Center in Savannah, GA. Photograph Courtesy of Blackstone Studios.

c) In 1921, Mrs. Mark Kerr, at the request of Sir Robert Baden-Powell, presented a Silver Fish to Anne Hyde Choate and Helen Storrow at the annual convention in Cincinnati, Ohio.

d) January, 1920 - Anne Hyde Choate (Mrs. Arthur O.), Second National President of Girl Scouts. Juliette Gordon Low was the first.

Who is this Anne Hyde Choate? I would like to find out if she is from my lineage. From the picture, she looks as though she may be in her 50's, so she was probably born around 1860 - 1870.

Does anyone know who this lady is?

Christine (Hartman) Johnson
