Well, no, his name is actually Crowell, not Cromwell. I've now positively identified him in my Chamberlain research files here, based on the information you provided that he came from Waterford, VT, which is in Caledonia Co. I thought this was the case earlier, based on Ancestry.com & GenForum Chamberlain & Chamberlin postings by you and Vern Dander [see my 20 Jun 2007 GenForum reply], but now I'm quite certain. This is Crowell(6) Chamberlain, b. 26 Jan 1800, Danville, Caledonia Co., VT, who was married in 1824 in Waterford, to Clarissa Holbrook (c1798-after 1850), with three known children: Maria?, b. c1827; Harvey H., b. c1830, and Elizabeth, b. c1838. Here are some citations:

- IGI lists Crowel Chamberlin, b. 26 Jan 1800, Danville Twp., Caledonia, VT, son of John & Elizabeth Chamberlin.

- 1830 Census, Danville, Caledonia Co., VT, Crowell Chamberlin, p. 312: 101001-110001 (age 30-40)
- 1840 Census, Waterford, Caledonia Co., VT, Croel Chamberlin, p. 426: 0011001-1011001 (age 40-50), 2 persons employed in Agriculture
- 1850 Census, Waterford, Caledonia Co., VT, Crowell Chamberlan, p. 114, #79/86, age 50, farmer, b. VT; Clarissa, age 52, b. VT; Maria?, age 23, b. VT; Harvey H., age 20, laborer, b. VT, attends school; Elizabeth, age 12, b. VT, attends school; Dorcus Holbrook, age 84, b. CT?

Clarissa is listed in my research notes as follows:
She is probably the daughter of Dorcus Holbrook, living with the family in 1850 census. Clarissa is perhaps the following individual, evidently a widow in 1870:

- 1860 Census, Waterford, Caledonia Co., VT, Clara Chamberlin, p. 502, #6/7, 1 Jun 1860, age 60, -/$300, b. VT; listed in dwelling headed by Elisha Kinney & family
- 1870 Census, Waterford, Passumpire? P. O., Caledonia Co., VT, C. Chamberlin, p. 272A, #60/57, 8 Jun 1870, female, age 71, keeping house, $250/$500, b. VT, living alone

The ancestral line of descent is listed as: John(5), Ebenezer(4), William(3), Jacob(2), William(1) Chamberlain - one of the five original Chamberlain immigrant ancestors in early New England. Please contact me via Email for additional discussion of this information, if desired. Historical & genealogical society experts in Caledonia County could be contacted - they probably have records concerning this family, including Crowell & Harry's involvement with the Parker wagon trip west in 1850.
