BIOGRAPHICAL
Dorothy Eunice Hoyt was of Indian descent on her mother's side. Her father was a brother of Amory's mother Flora Hoyt.
In 1838, Amory came with his mother from the Cherokee Nation in northern Alabama to Gibson, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, with a horse and wagon. He became a minister and joined the Cherokees in their new home (Indian Territoy) as a missionary and spend the remainder of his life with them. He wrote several books, translating their language into English.
Unable to locate Brainerd, Tennessee.
Not located in the 1850 census, which apparently did not include the Indian Territory (Oklahoma).
The lack of jurisdictional information provided by the Wright-Chamberlin Genealogy (major source) makes it nearly impossible to lend any confidence in guessing where family events took place.
