You asked about the spouses in this Irish line. The line begins with the earliest known ancestor, Jonas(1) Chamberlain, b. c1600, Northampton, Eng., whose wife was named Alice, based on an LDS Ancestral File, and on World Family Tree CDROM #9-2273, according to my research notes. You may wish to attempt to correspond with Merwyn Andrew Haneberg of 7047 17th Ave., NE, Seattle, WA 98115, who submitted (I don't know when) the LDS Ancestral File for this family which tracks 6 generations. Jonas(2) Chamberlain, b. c1627, England, m. Anne Ivory, 18 Aug 1647, Wexford, Wexford, Ireland. John(3), b. 16 Aug 1663, Killane, Wexford, Ireland, has unknown wife, as you have it listed. According to your own records, John(4) b. 9 Sep 1690, Dublin, Ireland, has unknown wife. You have probably seen the same LDS IGI Records and Ancestral File online that I have. My own cursory reexamination of these IGI records today, for all John Chamberlains in Ireland, does not reveal the marriages for John(3) and John(4). Nor does it, as near as I can determine, show that the person you have listed as "John3, b. 9 Sep 1690, Dublin", was proven to be the son of "John2 b. 1663, Killaine, Wexford" (the Ancestral File does not list his marriage or children), so I would be interested to hear on what basis you have made this connection. I do see that the John Chamberlain, chr. 9 Sep 1690, Saint John The Evangelist, Dublin, son of John, could be from another line of John Chamberlains, beginning with one John Chamberlain chr. 9 Sep 1623 in the same church, son of "Will.", with another John b. c1640 (unknown parents), who married an Anne c1665 somewhere in Dublin. Perhaps someone else can respond with additional information about these families and how to sort them out.
For your added information, data was collected by Mr. Welton Chamberlain [Email: welmar@ismi.net ], first President of the World Chamberlain Genealogical Society (of which I was a co-founder) concerning Jonas Chamberlain who m. Anne Ivory, from Immigration of the Irish Quakers into PA, 1682-1750, by Albert Cook, Myers, Swarthmore, PA, 1902, extracts reprinted by Welton, in the Chamberlain Key (WCGS newsletter), Vol. IV-2, p. 47, which states, "In 1671, in Co. Wexford, Jonas Chamberlain was taken a prisoner 'upon a definite sentence' for 7s small tithes, and kept in prison for nine months." While Jonas was in prison the "Priest" along with four men took two of his lambs and "abuses his servants." Perhaps you haven't seen this interesting tidbit elsewhere. I myself attended Swarthmore College many years ago, and know that the Friends Library on the campus there contains one of the most important collections of Quaker historical materials in America, and is also the headquarters for their "Peace" movement. It is likely, I would suppose, that experts there could put you in touch with similar Quaker experts and the most important repositories/collections in England and/or Ireland, where you could continue your research on the branch of this particular Quaker family that stayed there in the British Isles. Just an idea that you may wish to consider. Please contact me via Email if you wish to discuss this family at greater length.
