It now appears that Captain Joseph Sibley died in January 1805, rather than March. In addition to the newspaper obit cited, there are 4 others: the Columbian Centinel issue of 30 January 1805 ["In Andover, (Ver.) Capt. John Sibley, of Sutton, (Ma.)"]; The Independent Chronicle issue of 31 January 1805 ["In Andover, (Vert.) Capt. John Sibley, of Sutton, (Ma.)"]; the Political Observatory issue of 2 February 1805 ["At Andover, Vt. Capt. Joseph Sibley, Aet 65, of Sutton Mass."]; the New-Hampshire Sentinel issue of 2 February 1805 ["At Andover, Ver. Capt. Joseph Sibley, of Sutton, Ma. aged 65."] My analysis is that it was Captain Joseph Sibley who died in Andover, Vermont not Captain John Sibley. Would welcome any other thoughts on this or any other information.
