Looking for info on Rufus James Shafer. Rufus married Ida (Hosier) Avery, a cousin of my great-grandmother. This is what I have: Rufus James Shafer b. October 26, 1889 in Harrington, Kansas d. after 1930 Ida Anna (Hosier) Avery Shafer b. December 25, 1884 in Thayer County, Nebraska d. January 1953? in Denver, Colorado They were married about 1916. Rufus and Ida lived in Kansas City - that's where they are in the 1930 census. A nephew of Ida's remembered that his dad went to see her in Kansas City and that after either Rufus died (or maybe they divorced - he couldn't remember), she moved to Denver to care for an older woman. I found a record of cremation for an Ida M. Shafer in Denver who was cremated on Janaury 21, 1953. I belive it's her, but don't have proof as there's no birth date. But Ida's birth year has been listed later than 1884 on different census info. But she is listed on the 1885 Nebraska State Census as an infant, so she had to be born before that, so I take the 1884 date. I'd love any information you can give me on her and Rufus!! Scott Musil
