RootsWeb has the family of James EVANS, b. ca. 1823/5, NC, & Elizabeth MYERS, b. ca. 1832, Lincoln Co., NC. In 1860, Knox Co., IN, they were James, 37, & wf. Elizabeth, 28, with ch. Mary J., 5; Nancy C., 2; & Lucresa, 1. I think Ancestry has the family listed twice because another family is the same except that James was 35, & the youngest was Sarah, 1, instead of Lucresa. In 1880, Palmyra, Knox Co., IN, EVENS, James, 59, & wf. Elizabeth, 49, they & parents b. NC; ch. b. IN: Sarah L., 21; Jacob, 18; Micha L., 16; John, 14; James, 9; Peter, 8. GRIFFITH, William, 25, OH OH OH; wf. Nancy, 22; IN NC NC; dau. Hannah E., 1. ____ My SELBY family is from Eli SELBY (12 Jan. 1761, MD - 4 Jan. 1857?, bu. Rehoboth Cem., Perry Co., OH; s/o Hannah & Mordecai) & Ruth SHIPLEY (1773 - 15 May 1857). I descend from their dau. Harriet, who m. Frederick GROVES. They moved to Vernon Co., WI, with her sister Mary SELBY & her husband Jonas GROVES, brother of Fredk. Mordecai SELBY also had son Nicholas SELBY (ca. 1755, MD - 11 Aug. 1825, MD) who m. 1775, MD, Lucretia EVANS (1756 - Mar. 1817). Nicholas SELBY & Lucretia had son Lloyd SELBY (30 Je. 1776 - 24 July 1845) who m. 20 Apr. 1797, Elizabeth EVANS (19 Feb. 1778 - 10 Nov. 1854). Do you know any more about Lucretia, b. 1756, or Elizabeth, b. 1778? Eli SELBY also had a daughter Margaret, b. 1797, MD, who m1. 11 Mar. 1819, Perry Co., OH, Pemberton EVANS [EAVINS]; m2. 23 Je. 1825, Muskm. Co., OH, Henry SHANER; m3. 18 Dec. 1843, OH, John ILIFF. I haven't been able to find out anything else about Pemberton. Have you run across the name Pemberton EVANS?
