The January 2008 issue of ANTIQUES magazine has an ad picturing a portrait of young George Selby, b. 1804 in New York, by the artist Ammi Phillips. The portrait was evidently painted when the sitter was living in Albany, NY. His last documented residence was Bennington, Vermont. I am scanning this page in case any of George Selby's descendants might like a copy, either by email or by postal mail. Someone in the Selby family ought to have it--it is too good to be missed by the family. My email address can be found by clicking on my underlined name above. Please reply to me at my email address rather than leave a message on this Genforum site, which I might not see. If it were a portrait of a Mr. Pease, I'd certainly want someone to do the same for me. Bill Pease, Lancaster, PA |
