Obituary Hartford Courant Newspaper April 15 1904 page 7 Mrs Eliza Richardson of No 6 Squire Street died at 8 o'clock yesterday morning at Hartford Hospital of cancer and old age. She was born in slavery eighty four years ago in Virginia. She grew up as a slave becoming free in the war. Since the war, she lived in this city acting as a nurse and housekeeper. She was employed by a number of families here, all of whom thought highly of her. Mrs Richardson was a member of A.M.E. Zion Church, being one of its oldest communicants.
