Hello Richardson researchers, I have many questions, Ithiel is elusive, but I do know from Kelsey family history this much: Married Phebe Jane Kelsey in Chicago, Cook County, IL on May 30, 1865, he died either in Kalamazoo, MI where he is buried or in Chicago, IL. Phebe Jane (Kesley) Richardson is my great great Aunt. She died in 1916 and is buried in Mountain Home Cemetery, Kalamazoo, MI next to Ithiel Richardson and near her mother, Marcia (Needham) Kelsey Jackson; her sister, Louisa Minerva (Kelsey) McOmber DENISON & other family members. Ithiel Richardson married first Martha Townsend. In 1860 Census of Melrose, Middlesex County, MA, no Martha: Line 7, 208-200 I. S. Richardson, age 58 (should be age 54), m, Inventor, 1,000, born Vermont Ithiel Richardson, age 25, male, so born ca 1835, in Mass. Mary Richardson, age 27, f, so born ca 1833, in Mass; dtr or ? A. F. Stevens, age 33, m, b. Maine Can't locate Ithiel in 1870 or Phebe. Listed 1880 in Hyde Park, Cook County, IL Census with wife listed as "Eva J." really Phebe Jane (Kelsey) and one niece "Louisa McOmber age 7" (this most likely is daughter of Spencer Francis McOmber, nephew of Phebe Kelsey Richardson) and one nephew L. N. Richardson, age 48. Ithiel S. Richardson is listed as "Real estate dealer" in the 1880 Census Hyde Park, IL Census, he died in Chicago per some on May 30, 1892, but he is buried in Kalamazoo, MI at Mountain Home Cemetery. Per one gedcom file DOB is March 30, 1806, but per Kelsey history it is August 30, 1806, others list April 30, 1806 here is inf. from one site: http://www.genealogysource.com/druryhughdesc.html 7. Martha TOWNSEND 9 Had 3 children MY note, Mary (?) and Ithiel, Jr are 2 children, I know of, he is listed in MASS 1860 Census with Mary and Ithiel, Jr. 8 m2. GREELEY 8 Nathaniel RICHARDSON b. 16 MAR 1816 8 m1. Eliza HINDS 8 m2 &3 ??? Ithiel's notes: 8 Ithiel S. RICHARDSON b. 30 MAR 1806 or April or Aug 30, 1806. 8 m1. Martha TOWNSEND & Had 3 children, Mary and Ithiel, Jr. and ??? 8 m 2nd. PHEBE JANE KELSEY m. MAY 30, 1865 in CHICAGO, IL In 1900 Phebe J. Richardson is living with her sister's daughter's family of Thomas Jones VanKirk and Carrie Eugenia (Denison) VanKirk daughter of Hiram Denison and Louisa Minerva (Kelsey)(1m) McOmber (2m) DENISON (Phebe's sister)& brother-in-law, and Hiram Denison in Kalamazoo, Kalamzoo County, MI. In google books I have read some VT history on Ithiel Richardson and a lawsuit and several other articles about him. Does anyone know his children and where they settled? Sincerely, Marilyn
