William Drayton and wife Ellen Dobbs came to US in about 1870 Free BDM shows their marriage in 1869 in Newport Monmouthshire Wales. Their daughter Annie was born before they came. Another child a son Thomas John was born in braidwood IL and another son William James was born after him location unknown. They eventually settled in Walworth county SD. Land records list William sr and all 3 children as landowners No mention of wife Ellen. Again Free BDM shows a record of death of an Ellen Drayton age 43 in 1893 Dates would be close but I don't know if this is connected or not. Annie eventually married Edward Pitcher. Thomas John eventually married Mary Palmer. William James eventually married Maggie Giles. 1881 UK Census records for Monmouth Wales list Henry J. Drayton as son of Mary Smith address 2 Cross st. Newport Wales this Henry was brother or uncle to William Sr. I am planning a trip to Wales spring 2002. Addresses or contacts would be much appreciated. thankyou
