Larkin Caison, Texas, 1848

I am looking for information about Larkin Caison who was in Texas in 1848. I am not related to this person, but he was involved in a land transaction with my great great grandfather, Thomas Reid. I live on a portion of that land and am trying to apply for a Historic Family Farm/Ranch designation. I have looked through the posts on this forum, and it is obvious that "my" Larkin is the same as one discussed here. Thomas Reid was from Madison County, Tennessee.

I have an abstract for the land that became my great grandfather's homestead. The first action in the abstract is a Warrenty Deed, dated Nov. 15th, 1848 from Jessee Walling to Larkin Caison and Thos. Reid. It converys one league of land in Bell County, Texas, for consideraion of $2,000 cash. It concludes "The Acknowledgement in Statutory form before James R. Armstrong, N.P. Rusk County, Texas."

Can anyone give me a story or two that might help personalize my application for the historic designation? For instance, one of our family legends tells that Thomas Reid and his father, David Reid (also of Madison County) were friends with the family of Sam Houston in Tennessee and provided some finiancial aid to Sam during the Texas Revolution. Any info will be gratefully received. Thanks.
