My gg grandfather James Carse was born c1817 in Co Down. He married Ann Gourley born c1831 in Co Down. James's father was Henry Carse and Ann's John Gourley. They married on 17 Nov 1849 and had the following children who emigrated to Australia: John (my g grandfather), Samuel, Sarah, Robert, William, Thomas, and the following who did not emigrate: Harry, Agnes, David and Nancy. The family lived in the townland of Magherascouse in the vicinity of Ballygowan south of Comber. I need more infomation on the parents of James and Ann. Willing to share what I have. Also am doing an informal one-name-study on Carses in Aust and NZ. Currently have 200 with 17 original settlers. Enquiries welcome.
