Anne Baxter (nee McConnell) from New Zealand - tracing my McConnell heritage from Co. Down Nth Ireland.
Have confirmed my Great Grandfather's name was GEORGE McCONNELL (who married SARAH McCANDLESS in 1870 in Killyleagh, Co. Down). Their marriage certificate states that GEORGE's father's name was WILLIAM McCONNELL(GG grandfather). No mention of his Mother's name - yawn!
On the IGI I have located a marriage of a WILLIAM McCONNELL to an ELIZABETH CARSE on 24 December 1839 in Killinchy Down.
(The dates fit!)
From your CARSE family investigations have you a match for an ELIZABETH CARSE and a WILLIAM McCONNELL who gave birth to a son called GEORGE, who would have been of marriagable age by 1870?
