I was intrigued by your posting because I have a rather distant connection with Vermont Carlisles through my great-grandfather's sister, who married a Richard Carlisle. I don't know about your Mial Carlisle, but I believe he may have been a brother to Richard's parents, Joseph Carlisle who married Polly Allen; they lived in Addison, Vermont. I just ran across a posting "Goshen Vermont Vital Records" wherein a number of Carlisle births and deaths were recorded, including my Richard (1838) and some others you mention, Philena Annes (1816) and Marcelous (sic) (1825).

Joseph and Polly moved to Saint Lawrence County, New York with their children. Besides Richard they had Allen (who is not mentioned in the Goshen list), Franklin, and George (both of whom are in the list). I am sure there must be a connection.

The Carlisle births listed range from William, 1779, to Polly E., 1850.

Hope this helps.
