I cannot find any printed genealogy or good research that has been done on the Carlisle family of Vermont. I would like to have anyone who just might be related to this line give me an e-mail. I am the historian / family researcher, for the southern Windsor County Vermont area, and we are working on this family...

Mial Carlisle (3) {William (2), William (1)}, was born in Westmoreland, New Hampshire, 1790. He m. in Reading, Vt., 22 Jan., 1815, Judith Annis (b. Hartland, Vt., 5 March, 1791, dau. of Ezra & Sylvia Annis).
       In 1830, Mial and Judith were living in Randolph, Vt. In 1840 they were living in Goshen, Vt. When the 1850 census was taken they were in Randolph, Vt. living with their son Marcellus and family. Where did they both die?

Children:

1. Philena Ann, b. Goshen, 27 May, 1816. She m. Randolph, Vt., 29 March, 1838 Edgerton Sprague (b. Randolph, Vt., 13 July, 1809, son of John & Sally (Story) Sprague). They lived a couple of years in East Randolph, and then moved to Chelsea, Vt. on West Hill. They were in Chelsea in 1850 when the census was taken. Their farm was valued at $1,100. Their neighbors were Harvey Roberts and family and Nathaniel Hood and family. They lived in Chelsea eleven years. Then they went to West Windsor, Vt. where they were living in 1870. Edgerton was 60 yrs old and Philena was age 53. They were living alone, their neighbors being Fred and Martha Moulton and Laren Stevens and famlu, John Nichols an family. Mr. Sprague died on a visit to his daughter in Grundy, Iowa, 5 July, 1880. Philena d. in Grundy, Iowa, 22 July, 1887. NEWS:—W. Windsor, 5 Aug., 1887: “News reached here 29 July of the sudden death in Iowa of Mrs. P. A. Sprague, widow of the late Edgerton Sprague of W. Windsor. Mr. & Mrs. Sprague were residents of this town for 30 years. In April 1880, they left their home and went with their daughter, Mrs. Ida Weston, to Illinois, to visit their other daughter Mrs. Henry Knapp. In July, Mr. Sprague died, leaving a bereaved wife and three children. Since his death, Mrs. S. has been in poor health.”
Children:
1. Laura Ann, b. 22 Feb., 1830. She m. Henry Samuel Knapp (b. Pa., 1839). In 1880, they lived in Baileyville (Ogle Co.) Illinois. Laura's parents were boarding with them, and also, Phebe M Brown (b. Mass., age 84, widow). Henry was a farmer and served as justice of the peace. Laura d. in Grundy, Iowa, 22 Jan., 1899.
2. Ida M., b. 14 June, 1845. She m. 26 Jan., 1868, Fletcher Benjamin Weston. They were divorced. She d. in Windsor, Vt., 27 Nov., 1880. [see Families of Cavendish, Weston]
3. Clarence M., b. Chelsea, Vt. 12 Aug., 1856. He m. 25 Nov., 1875, Abbie E. Weston (b. Plymouth, Vt., 16 April, 1854, dau. of Benjamin & Ann (Fletcher) Weston. They moved to Grundy Center, Iowa. Abbie d. 10 Nov., 1908. After her death, he moved to Santa Ana, California where he died ---. (Children: Grace R., b. Windsor, Vt., 6 April, 1877, (2) Edgerton B., b. Windsor, Vt., 25 Nov., 1880). (3) Henry F., b. Grundy, Iowa, 1 Feb., 1889, he m. 24 Nov., 1910, Mina Deihl.
2. Phelancy, b. Brandon, 2 April, 1819
3. Marcellus A., b. Goshen, 6 July, 1825. He m. in Montpelier, Vt., 30 Dec., 1848 Sarah Clarissa Smith (b. Vt. 1825). They were living with his parents in Randolph, Vt. when the 1850 census as taken. Marcellus owned the farm. It was valued at $1,400, When the 1870 census was taken, they were living in Wolcott (Lamoille Co) Vt. When the 1880 census of Vermont was taken, they were residents of Randolph (Orange Co).

1. Carrie E., b. 1861
