I'm looking for my paternal ancestor that first crossed the atlantic to the colonies. here's what i've got so far

(ggf) Joseph Benjamin Carlisle 1878/79-11/20/1914 MS,son of
(2gf) Benjamin Selby Carlisle(JP) b.1/7/1830 -? SC,son of
(3gf) James Glenn Carlisle (rev) 9/20/1801SC-10/9/1883MS
(4gf) Coleman Carlisle (rev) 8/15/1770-1864 SC
(5gf) Robert Carlisle 1734/40-1786 NC
(6gf) William Carlisle 1710-5/1769 NC
(7gf) Richard Carlisle 1674VA-<4/8/1739 VA
(8gf) ?william? Carlisle ??-?? ?MD?

this last is from an unsupported genealogy but seems to fit the puzzle. i have lots of spouse and sibling info, but would still appreciate any info anyone can offer. thanx!
